#1- Write With A Friend- How To Start Producing Again

By- Tom Kubrak

After taking time off… you either are able to get right back at it without skpping a beat, or you struggle to pick up where you left off.

For me, it was the last one and I’m currently struggling on getting back to my old writing sessions where I was able to write for hours.

I believe the most important thing to remember in this journey is that you can’t do it alone so you may need some help from time to time.

Obviously, there’s other things we need to address about getting back into a good writing routine, but that’s for later posts.

So, when you find yourself in a creative-rut and are struggling to produce, sometimes all you need to do is…

If they’re a fellow writer, you most likely don’t need to go into detail about what you’re going through. All you need to do is ask them if they want to ‘link up for a writing session.’ I don’t know about other writers, but for me I love writing in the same room as another writer. Just their presence alone gives me a lot of creative energy.

If it’s not a writing-friend you’re calling, then just be honest and tell them you need a little help getting back into your routine and you’d like to know if they would be willing to talk and just be with them for an hour to help you out. Ask them to bring some of their work to do. Again, if it’s not a writer friend who may not equally benefit from this as you tell them you’ll buy dinner or drinks afterwards. Sometimes, that’s all it takes.

On another note, you may not have someone who’s there willing to give an hour of their time to to help you out. If that’s the case then you may just need to get out of the office and spend a session at a bar or a cafe.

This strategy can make all the difference and help spark you back into your creative-routine so you can get back to producing!

See if it works for you and let me know!
