I made the decision to begin compiling my work, a few weeks ago, in hopes to publish a book of my short stories, articles and short scenes. So far, I’ve gotten through 1 year. So, to put it short, I’ve got a hell of a lot of work to do.
I wanted to do this to not only make sure these little-short -stories and scenes don’t get lost on the internet, but to start learning this self-publishing thing. Which, I’ve heard is quite the process, to say the least. Although it would be cool, I’m not going in with the attitude that a publisher will pick me up. I’m going in with the mindset that I have to publish this on my own. Financially, I have a little idea of what it takes, but I’m ready to invest.
I also wanted to do this to help other writers understand to just write. As cliche as that sounds I believe in the early stages that you need to just write what comes to your mind. That novel you want to write isn’t going to happen if you don’t write and post those early works. A lot of these stories you’re going to read in this book are incomplete and needing something else. In fact the large majority of them will be. A big reason the title of the book right now is… oh wait! I’m going to tell you guys that later. Stay tuned! But these stories helped teach me along the way the great lesson of; don’t care what others think about it, just write it, post it and move along.
Along the way I hope to share some snip-bits into the process and show you how it’s looking too, right here on my blog and instagram. So, stay tuned for that as well.
This is probably going to take the whole year to do or longer. Regardless, I’m excited for the challenge. I’m also excited to mention the people who helped me along the way and helped inspire these stories. I’m especially excited to share the stories that strangers and friend’s photography and paintings helped fuel me with so much creativity. You’re sure to be in the acknowledgment section which is going to take a while to do, because I’m going to try and not leave a single person out.
I’m excited to show you all, or a large portion, of my stories in one place. This project isn’t going to be easy, but I’m excited and ready to begin. Thank you all for the support and hope to get this out to you all sometime in 2022 or 2023.
Stay tuned for posts about self publishing, what I’m using to compile these stories, the cover design process, and much more.
